Dynamism in contemporary Gospel music is on a rapid rise with new genres emanating seasonally. There is a myriad of genres of gospel music being served day in and day out. What seems to be like a new genre has come to stay with an influx of Christian creatives tapping into its wide opportunities.
Afro-Gospel music adds itself to these already thriving gospel music genres. Afro-Gospel is widely defined as a genre that thrives on hip-hop, amapiano, hip-life, and reggae beats.
A Musician and afro-gospel singer, Scott Evans has expressed that, just like his predecessors of other genres of Gospel music, he wants to be gazetted as a Christian creative who through the Spirit of God stood and promoted the afro-gospel genre conversation and duly paid his dues.
He expressed his sentiments on people’s reaction to the new genre though doubtful, he is of good cheer that the message of the birth, mission, death, and resurrection of Christ is preached irrespective. He believes gospel stands for good news, and that gospel music, like any other music, should not follow a particular trend as most people believe and want it to.
Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast show, the developing afro gospel artist expressed the difficulty in getting an “A” list artist to feature on his music. He conveyed gratitude to Empress Gifty and Celestine Donkor for availing themselves to be used by God in songs he featured them on.
The “Mapek3” hitmaker stated that he currently has no projects that he looks forward to featuring any artist and is content working as a solo musician for now. He also recounted the achievements his solo works have brought him.
