There has been a discussion around the recent comments made by the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia proclaiming that Jesus is coming again as the Messiah. As emphatic as his statement was, it has generated various arguments among several people from religious and political divides.

Some claim that his comments came about as a political strategy to win the Christian fraternity to his side in his hide to become the President of Ghana.
However, friends and folks alike who knew and grew up with the Dr. have shared a different light on his becoming that is probably less known in the media and this is what might have been the foundation for his declaration.
In a video chanced on, Mr. Samuel Kwasi Ankamah and Mr. Raja Ishwell who grew up in the same religious space with the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia shared how he was selfless and dedicated to things that mattered to the church.
It was disclosed that the Vice President was a member of the brigade corps of the Methodist Church in Tamale, Ghana, where he grew up.

Mr. Raja disclosed that at a younger age, Vice President Dr. Bawumia expressed willingness to be a part of the boys’ brigade which was established by Sir William Smith, a missionary who had it at heart to develop discipline among young men in the 70’s.
He was a member from his days in primary school until middle school when it became difficult for him to attend meetings and subsequently left the corps due to the boarding school system and further studies in America.

His mother’s unflinching support in getting uniforms for his son was admirable as she saw no harm in her son joining an established group of Christian descent.
The biblical narration of events about the Abrahamic covenant and some verses from the Holy Qu’ran brings to light much more information about the assertion made by the Vice President.
Take a sip of chilled stuck and let’s have a cruise into the details:
The Abrahamic covenant espouses God’s promise to make Abraham a great nation where his descendants will inherit the promised land. This promised land though was in respect of an earthly one, it also had a much deeper meaning of a heavenly inheritance.
The covenant promise was to be received by a direct descendant of Abraham who was Isaac. Though Abraham begot Ishmael before Isaac, God still made his promise sure that it was to be received through Isaac.
This translates to mean that, though there Ishmael was the son of Abraham, the promise was not to be fulfilled through him but Isaac.
This can be likened to that of Jesus and S.A.W Mohammed. Jesus is a descendant of Isaac and S.A.W Mohammed is a descendant of Ishmael.

Surah 5:17 describes the son of Mary as the Messiah which is clearly in line with the Christian teaching of Christ’s power to save.
This means that Jesus is indeed the Messiah who will come again to save this world.
The statement made by the Vice President is one that Christians and all who profess to be followers of Jesus should be excited about.
The kingdom of God is at hand and indeed, Jesus will come again as the Messiah of our dying world.
