The year 2022 has gloriously come to a close as creatives in the Christian and gospel space wrap up to embrace what God has for the new year 2023. Among the most important things are the songs and Psalms released by prolific ministers in the year 2022.

Gospel music in Ghana has garnered much popularity and respect over the years with 2022 being astonishing and more power-packed than the previous years. Record labels, music groups, choirs, quartets, duets, and covers were proficient in the delivery of Christ-centered songs that were intended to churn the hearts of saints to God amidst the perils of the day.

In the top 10 Ghanaian Gospel music for the year 2022, Pastor Siisi Baidoo ft Theophilus Sunday came at number 10 with a beautiful rendition they called ‘Fire’. The song became a viral song a few weeks after its release with 251K views in 4months.

vocal powerhouse and worshipper Joyce Blessing came on number 9 with Odo Kese which has a total of 262K views in 4months. Odo Kese is mostly loved by Ghanaians because of the language and vocal austerity of the song.

The young and vibrant Perez Tagoe known in mainstream media as Perez Muzik blessed the nation with a spiritual Ga local dialect rendition he calls ‘Hewale Lala’ which was widely accepted and played on radio, online, Tv and mobile listening mediums. Hewela Lala comes at number 8 and currently has 461K views on YouTube after its release.

The globally recognized Ewe choir of the Global Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Bethel Revival Choir blessed the nation with a single off the Enyo Album released in 2022. ‘Tegbe Tegbe’ as the song is called traveled beyond the shores of Ghana with the influx of its performances in churches around Africa, Europe, and Asia. Tegbe Tegbe comes number 7 with 485K views on YouTube.

The nation was granted the prospect to hear from the Highest as Joe Mettle and the Love Gift band thronged God’s presence with ‘Kadosh’ off the Kadosh album released in 2022. The song comes number 6 with 525K views on YouTube. Kadosh is a praise jam that gets worshippers on their feet anywhere it is performed across the globe.

Off the Kadosh album, the minister Joe Mettle released another heaven-dwelling tune titled Great Jehovah which comes in as number 5 with 626K views on YouTube. Great Jehovah is a song geared toward encouraging the Saint to dwell on Jehovah in all circumstances.

The name of Jesus by Diana Hamilton in 2022 became a viral worship and meditation song. It had a blend of Pentecostal renditions that sang well with a majority of Ghanaians. The name of Jesus has 693K views on Youtube and it comes in as the 4th most streamed Gospel song in the year.

Empress Gifty in the year 2022 released a new single titled Eye Woaa which comes as the 3rd most streamed Gospel song and has 694K views on YouTube. The song tells the unwavering mercies of the Lord and its visuals tell the story of how God transforms humanity to be who He has created them to be.

‘My Meditation’ by minstrel Diana Hamilton bagged the 2nd spot as the most streamed Gospel song on YouTube with a whopping 911K views in 2 months after its release. Diana Hamilton’s songs are noted for their spiritual impact on the listener and ‘My Meditation’ attests to a barrel of validity.

The rhythmically arranged song ‘Waye Me Yie’ by Piesie Esther rose to it’s height to become the number one most streamed gospel song in the year 2022. With a whopping 2.4 million views on Youtube, Piesie Esther’s Waye Me Yie breaks and sets a record as the first Ghanaian Gospel song to reach over 2 million views 6months after its release. As relatable as it is for most of the Ghanaian Christian population, Waye Me Yie sits to remind the listener of how life has been and who God has always been. The song cuts across all aspects of life’s struggles and God’s unwavering grace and mercies.

It is a beautiful thing to live and witness such moments rise and go down in the history of the Ghanaian gospel music scene. Congratulations to these amazing vessels for availing themselves to go on the Lord’s errand and we pray the next year gets much better in Christ Jesus’ name. Amen.
